National Reading Month celebrated

San Roque Central joined the whole Philippines in celebrating the national reading month celebration. Last November 7, an Opening Program was held in SRCES right after the flag ceremony.

For the first week of the month, Read-A-thon was conducted in the classrooms from grades one to six. Pupils engaged in Story Retelling, Oral Reading Interpretation and Team Reading. Incentives were given to the winners.

In the second week, Project DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) was implemented. Every ten o’clock in the morning, the school bell sounded signaling the start of the 20-minute reading. With the aid of the paging system of the school, announcement of the Project DEAR was heard.

On the third week, the Big Brother/Big Sister remediation program was initiated. Grade six and grade five pupils helped in the remediation classes of grade one, especially those who had a difficulty in reading.

On November 25, 2011, San Roque Central joined the whole nation in Nationwide Araw ng Pagbasa. At 9 AM, project DEAR was announced in the school. Even parents were encouraged to go to the Library to read.
